Firmware 2.0 just hit the dock — and this isn’t a quiet patch. It’s a full rebuild of how Accutroll looks, feels, and talks between your phone and the module on the boat.
If you’ve been waiting for a cleaner helm on your phone and throttle that finally feels as solid as the hardware, this is the one. We redesigned the controls end to end, reworked the connection “control plane” under the glass, and shipped a handful of reliability upgrades that matter on real water — not just on a lab bench.
Status: Firmware 2.0 is available now as a pre-release update. The official full release is just around the corner — we’re opening the gates early so captains can get on the new controls first and help us polish the last edges.

A control deck built for the helm
The old controls got the job done. Firmware 2.0 is built for how you actually run a boat: glance, adjust, lock speed, hit a favorite, get back to fishing or cruising.
The new stage is less “settings form” and more instrument panel. Speed and throttle sit large. When speed-through-water is live, speed becomes the star of the show — and throttle stays right beside it so you’re never hunting for what matters.
Layouts, inputs & themes
Pick the layout that matches how you hold the phone. Pick the input style that matches how you drive. Then pick dark or light for the conditions. Same Accutroll muscle either way — just a helm that fits you.

1. Vertical right
Throttle rail on the right — a natural fit for right-thumb driving and most phone mounts. Default layout for most captains.
2. Vertical left
Same vertical stage, throttle rail on the left — better for left-hand mounts, left-thumb reach, or how your helm is set up.
3. Horizontal
Classic side-to-side throttle deck. Speed and throttle readouts take the stage up top; adjust controls run left-to-right underneath — great on wider phones and landscape-friendly mounts.
That’s six control faces (3 layouts × 2 input styles), each available in dark and light. Change layout and input style in app settings — you’re not locked into the default.
Throttle the way you actually use it
Prefer big MORE / LESS pads? Tap for a precise nudge, or hold to ramp. Prefer a rate stick with a spring-center grip? That’s available on every layout. Same goal either way: one-handed control without fuss.
Cruise lives on the stage
Tap the speed readout to lock, then nudge the cruise target with on-stage setpoint controls. Cruise gain stays available when you want to tune how aggressively the system holds — without turning the main screen into an engineering console.
Your presets stay one row away: throttle percentages or cruise speeds you actually use. Long-press to save where you are. Short-press to go. It’s “take me there,” not homework.
And when you need a clean pause: slide to idle. The system settles down and stays ready to resume when you are.
Under the glass: the new control plane
Here’s the nerdy part — and why 2.0 feels better than “just a new paint job.”
Your phone and the Accutroll module are in a constant conversation over Wi‑Fi. On a boat, that link is… characterful. Hotspots drop packets. Latency spikes when someone’s streaming. Two devices might both think they’re in charge for a moment. Older control messaging treated a lot of that conversation like a stream of absolute snapshots. When a late message arrived, the screen could argue with itself: you tapped MORE, the number jumped, snapped back, then jumped again.
That bounce wasn’t your imagination. It was the classic wireless-control problem: intent vs. delayed truth.
What we built instead
Firmware 2.0 introduces a dedicated control plane — a smarter handshake between the app and the module. Think of it as a careful co-pilot instead of a shouty megaphone:
- You act — tap, hold, preset, idle, cruise.
- The app shows your intent immediately so the helm feels instant.
- The module remains the source of truth for real throttle, mode, and cruise target.
- Updates are versioned and acknowledged so late packets don’t thrash the display.
- Commands are sent as clear intents (“do this next”) rather than a blur of competing absolutes.
In plain English: the readout stays smooth while the boat stays in charge. Same servo. Same throttle. Much calmer conversation over the air.

A little deeper (for the curious)
Under the hood, the app now queues and folds your control intents, coalesces high-rate gestures so the link isn’t flooded, and reconciles server state without overwriting what you just did. The firmware applies those commands cleanly and publishes throttle state with better change tracking — so clients stay in step after reconnects instead of thrashing through conflicting snapshots.
We also cut over to a dedicated WebSocket path for this system. App and firmware ship as a paired experience: update the module, and you get the new controls + the new control plane together. No half-updated “mystery mode” in the middle.
And yes — we stress-tested the boring cases that ruin a day on the water: laggy links, multi-client moments, and reconnect recovery. The polish is visual and behavioral.

Reliability upgrades you’ll notice over a season
Sleep is off by default
Low-voltage sleep is now disabled by default. On upgrade, units that were still on the old factory sleep threshold get migrated so the module is less likely to power down when you don’t expect it. If you want sleep behavior, you can still re-enable it in settings with a voltage threshold that fits your boat.
Hardened network reconnects
We toughened how Accutroll re-establishes its link to the network gateway after drops, silence, or messy teardown paths. Fewer “why do I need a dual reboot?” moments — more “it just came back.”
Settings that respect everyday captains
Everyday choices — layout, primary input style, units, and safety options like throttle failsafe — stay up front. Advanced / power-user tools move into Developer settings. The app stays friendly without hiding capability for shops and tinkerers.

Update your Accutroll module to the 2.0 pre-release, then open the controls page on your phone or tablet. The new UI is self-hosted with the firmware — after the update, the new deck is right there. No separate app store wait.
